Buscando la identidad de su abuelo, la performer holandesa Nicole Balm, descubre en el Pirineo Catalán,  a otro personaje:  un neo-hipie de 80 años que vive en el bosque, baila por las mañanas en pelotas y que muere en 1961 acribillado a tiros por la guardia civil mientras pasa fluorescentes de contrabando.

Entonces inicia una investigación que le lleva a conocer la fascinante vida de Lázaro Rius Tubert, niño superdotado, mecánico autodidacta, inventor del primer paraguas plegable, pionero de la energía solar y el nudismo, coreógrafo , colaborador de la resistencia Francesa y gran  humanista que influyó en la vida y obra de los mas importantes investigadores científicos de la primera mitad del siglo XX. A pesar de todo este hombre excepcional no sale en los libros y como muchos otros ha quedado en el olvido.

Ahora Lázaro camina de nuevo sobre el  escenario  gracias  a esta inclasificable creadora con la  ayuda de un catedrático multidisciplinar y un apicultor Checo.

Vida de Lázaro es una gran mentira, pero eso es lo de menos. Ante todo es una buena historia. En realidad dos. La de Lázaro y la de Nicole, una mujer de su tiempo, desarraigada y en crisis vital permanente, que encuentra, buscando a  Lázaro, una inesperada e íntima conexión con su pasado.

En un espacio sin cuarta pared entre taller, laboratorio y set de vídeo musical pop Nicole Balm dirige la reconstrucción  de la vida de Lázaro mientras nos habla de los detalles de su búsqueda. Para ello cuenta con las aportaciones de Jordi Bover, amigo suyo y catedrático de la universidad de ingeniería de Barcelona que a modo de paréntesis explicativos y de una forma muy personal nos ayuda a contextualizar los hechos. También invita a Ladislav Sôukup, musicólogo autodidacta y apicultor Checo que ha preparado una particular selección musical para el espectáculo y que revelará un curioso aspecto de la vida de Lázaro. Paralelamente a la história interpretan un personalísimo modelo de Realidad, simulan un vuelo comercial galáctico y encuentran, en directo, un tritono sobre el escenário.

Los tres se mueven sobre una estructura dramatúrgica básica con absoluta libertad. La información es siempre la misma pero la manera como esta se construye en escena, bajo las indicaciones de Nicole, es distinta en cada representación ( o esa es la sensación que tiene el público).

Podríamos decir, haciendo un esfuerzo inútil por definirlo, que se trata de un espectáculo-documental luminoso sobre una oscura búsqueda personal entre el thriller psicológico y la comedia del absurdo.

Looking for the identity of her grandfather, the Netherlands performer Nicole Balm, discovered in the Catalan Pyrenees, another character: a 80 years old neo-hipie who lives in the woods, dances naked every morning and dies in 1961 shot to death by the civil guard while smuggling fluorescent lamps. She begins an investigation that takes her to the fascinating life of Lazarus Rius Tubert, gifted child, self-taught mechanic, inventor of the collapsible umbrella, a pioneer of solar energy and nudity, choreographer, colaborator of the French resistance and great humanist who influenced the life and work of the most important scientists in the first half of the twentieth century. Yet this exceptional man does not appear in the books and like many others has been forgotten.

Now Lazarus walks back on stage thanks to this unclassifiable creator with the help of a multidisciplinary professor and a Czech beekeeper. Life of Lazarus is a lie, but that’s not important. First of all, it is a good story. Actually two. Lazarus and Nicole’s, a woman of her time, uprooted and in permanent life crisis, that by seeking to Lazarus, finds an unexpected and intimate connection with her past.

In a space with no fourth wall , between workshop, laboratory and pop music video set Nicole leads the reconstruction of the life of Lazarus as shee talks about the details of her search. This has inputs from Jordi Bover, a friend and professor of engineering at the University of Barcelona that parenthetical explanatory and a very personal way helps us to contextualize the facts. It also invites Ladislav Soukup, Czech beekeeper and self-taught musicologist who has prepared an interesting selection of music for the show and will reveal a curious aspect of the life of Lazarus. Parallel to interpret a curious Reality model, simulating a galactic commercial flight and finding , on stage ,a tritone.

All three are moving on a basic dramatic structure with absolute freedom. The information is always the same but the way this is built on stage, under the direction of Nicole, is different in each performance (or that’s the feeling of the audience). We might say, making a futile attempt to define  it that this is a lightful show-documentary about a dark personal search between psychological thriller and comedy of the absurd.
